Felt Easter Eggs

I cringe when I think of the amount of chocolate my little guy consumed last Easter. The Grandparents love to give him candy...and then leave us to deal with the sugar highs ; ) Now I am not going to deprive him of his Easter chocolates, but I wanted to think of a non-candy treat to include in the Big Egg Hunt. He loves little matchbox cars but they don't fit in the plastic eggs I have...so I came up with these felt egg pouches.

They are so easy to make! I just cut egg shapes out of felt and then sewed on ribbon and felt embellishments. I stitched 2 felt pieces together leaving an opening at the top and added velcro to close them. The possibilities are endless...you could even skip the sewing and use hot glue / fabric glue!

An easy alternative to candy that can be made in any size!

{Sewing in Spring} Easy Paperbag Waist Skirt

I recently fell head-over-heels in love with the paper bag waist skirt! I just love the casual elegance of it! It can easily be dressed up or down.

I found this tutorial for creating a super quick and easy elastic version on Adventures in Dressmaking. I added a few inches on the top (above the elastic) on mine to give it more of a "paper bag" look. I love how it turned out!

Oh and I'm not a giant...that's the pantry door behind me ; )

I'm linking up to Skirt Week on A Craft A Day

{Sewing in Spring} Babydoll tank

I needed a little sun amidst the gloom of this snowy first week of spring so I whipped up this easy tank. I cut a rectangle out of a vintage sheet, gathered it and then sewed it to the top of an old dress. It is comfy and cute....perfect for sunny days in the yard!

I really need to work on sewing with knits....they drive me crazy!! This turned out ok but it puckered and pulled funny in a few places. I bought the book Sew U Home Stretch which has lots of tips and tricks...hopefully it can help me out. I'll let you know how it is!

Sewing in Spring

Here in Alberta we are still waiting for Spring. We had a tiny tease last week but are currently stuck in snow....a lot of it! There appears to be no hope for it slowing down soon, so I need to do something to escape the winter blahs.

I am going to Sew in Spring! Bring on the Spring clothing, Spring decor, and Spring colour!

Here are the first two dresses I made this week! They are addicting : )
PS - The gorgeous painting in this photo was painted by my talented sister-in-law Wilme. You can find her Etsy store HERE

I LOVE this organization! I am going to make as many dresses as I can over the next two months and have invited my friends to do the same. At the end of April I will pack all the dresses up and ship them off to Hope 4 Women International.

Cinnamon Sticks To The Rescue!

My 3 year old loves his trucks and loves packing them with anything he can get his little hands on...any cheerio or goldfish on the floor is fair game! He had been asking for a logging truck and one night while in the kitchen I had a brain wave...cinnamon sticks would make prefect "logs".
He loves loading & unloading the "logs" from his trucks and I love a free toy that keeps his imagination going!

Framing a Moment in Time

I used to think that handprint art & crafts were cheesy...until I become a mom! Now I can't get enough of those little handprints!

I used acrylic craft paint to print on the linen fabric and then framed them in embroidery hoops. I smile every time I see that little hand & foot on the wall! I know in a few years I will look at them and find it hard to believe they were once that small.
